DOWNS, Sarah Wharton - Putnam

Sarah Amelia Downs, died Sunday morning at the home of her sister, Mrs. Laura B. Hirt, West Walnut Road. She was the daughter of Isaiah and Elizabeth Kennedy Wharton, who came to Greencastle in 1869. Her marriage to Andrew J. Downs of Battleground, occured in 1901. He died in 1912. One of ten children of whom was Mrs. Hirt and a brother, Charles Wharton of Alexandria survives. Private services were held Tuesday afternoon, with burial in Forest Hill cemetery   --- thanks so very much to Marilyn W. for sharing her Roachdale Times obituary collection - greatly appreciated !.
